This is a small work on Yupo, utilizing aluminum, silver, false and genuine gold leaf with India ink and powdered graphite drawing.
The leaf makes it very challenging to photograph and as such, doesn't really show the range of variation of color and texture
as much as I'd hoped.
The piece is less than two years old and already we see the patination taking place on the false gold leaf. To me this is one of the exciting things about
combining the genuine gold leaf with the brass/bronze/copper amalgams that are sold as cheap gold leaf. But, then, even the sages tell us that even gold cannot stay...
